We spent an extra day exploring the Cape Charles area. Our main excursion was to Eyre Hall, an 18th century plantation house about 6.5 miles from Cape Charles. We rode our bikes there. The house is still owned, and lived in, by the original Eyre family who settled in this area in the 1600s. The house itself is only open once a year during a special event, but the gardens are free and open every day. Beautiful. We would love to see it when the crape myrtles are blooming!
In the late afternoon, we went to the Cape Charles Distillery and had wonderful (and ridiculously expensive!) bourbon cocktails on the patio.
