Weather cleared slowly over the morning. We walked to the WWII bunkers off Tower Hill overlooking the west end of the island.

At noon, there was a golf cart parade (decorated and full of kids with water balloons and super-soakers). The parade went up one street, turned at the dock, then came down the other. The final vehicle was the island's old fire truck, a pumper.

Back to the boat to enjoy the antics for the kids on the 3 boats tied together next to us. 3 families = 6 adults, 3 boys, 5 girls, 2 dogs. The boys spent most of the time swinging thru the rigging on bosun chairs. What fun!

At 5:30, we went to the Cuttyhunk Historical Society's opening day social on the lawn. Open bar - mixing very strong drinks - and homemade appetizers. A bit of conversation.

We talked to Azzurra (Tom & Sally, dock-mate at home) in the harbor. We didn't know they were there until now. They were having their kids and in-laws over so we couldn't hang out. We should be able to catch up with them later in the trip.

Some small local fireworks that were enough to scare Bruce to full panic.
